A Ferguson, Missouri cop was shot Saturday night interrupting a burglary, but he is expected to recover. Ferguson police say the officer was on routine duty when he noticed two men trying to break into a local business. When he ran after them, they fired on him, striking his left arm. “We have no indication either suspect was shot,” said St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar during a press conference. Dozens of police cars rushed to the shooting, but the suspect is still at large. Police believe he may have fled into a nearby woods. Police said they didn't believe the exchange was linked to protests surrounding the shooting and killing of Michael Brown, but in the background of the press conference, protesters could be heard shouting “We are going to shut this down!" The Department of Justice is leading a civil rights investigation into the Ferguson Police Department, after it was discovered the officers had a history of abuse and mistreatment.
