FIFA on Thursday banned former U.S. executive Chuck Blazer for life from all soccer-related activities. The 70-year-old former Central American and Caribbean region (CONCACAF) general secretary worked undercover with U.S. prosecutors after pleading guilty to charges of bribery, money laundering, and tax evasion. Blazer helped prosecutors build a case against 14 FIFA officials who were indicted in May on charges of racketeering, fraud, and money laundering. A statement from FIFA’s ethics committee said Blazer was involved in “various acts of misconduct continuously and repeatedly” while serving as a FIFA official.
