French officials have declared the “jungle” migrant camp at Calais empty after removing 6,300 people from the area this week. Throughout Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, several dozen fires broke out in the camp as the final migrants were removed from the area. Only one migrant was reported injured in the blazes. Spokesman Fabienne Buccio said migrants “have a tradition” of burning former shelters before departing them. Several thousand residents of the camp were moved to various other centers throughout the country. The evacuation of the camp has led to concerns over the hundreds of unaccompanied minors who had made their residence there.
