Five men have been arrested in London over an alleged threat to the pope, police said Friday. The men, between the ages of 26 to 50, were arrested under the terrorism act at a central London business after reports came in overnight about the plot against the pope, according to London’s police force. No further details are available on the alleged suspects, who are currently being questioned at a London police station and have yet to be charged. Police also said searches of the suspects have not uncovered any dangerous items. Pope Benedict XVI is in London on day two of a four-day visit to Britain. The trip has been met with criticism over the Catholic Church’s abuse scandals and general opposition from secularists. Pope Benedict XVI’s main event was an afternoon speech Friday given to British leaders at Westminster Hall, and he is also set to address thousands in London’s Hyde Park on Saturday.
