France is investigating Christine Lagarde, who took over the International Monetary Fund after Dominique Strauss-Kahn's arrest, for abuse of power during her time as France's finance minister. Lagarde is accused of wrongly forcing a bank to enter binding arbitration with a controversial businessman and former left-wing politician who had recently switched sides to support President Nicolas Sarkozy. The tycoon, Bernard Tapie, won $400 million from the deal.
