Nidal Hasan, the shooter responsible for the Fort Hood massacre, has written to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi expressing his desire to become a “citizen” of the self-proclaimed Islamic State. In 2009, Hasan killed 13 people and injured more than 30 others at Fort Hood, where he worked as a psychiatrist for the U.S. Army. “I formally and humbly request to be made a citizen of the Islamic State,” Hasan wrote in the undated letter, adding he wants to serve a group that doesn’t “compromise the religion of All-Mighty Allah to get along with the disbelievers." It was discovered this week that two Americans have already died fighting for ISIS, Douglas McCain and Troy Kastigar.
