Financial Times reporter Paul McClean was reportedly killed by a crocodile while taking surfing lessons on a beach vacation in Sri Lanka. McClean, who was not yet 25 years old, is described by his former employer as “an accomplished young reporter.” James Lamont, the FT’s managing editor, said on Friday: “Our thoughts are with his family, friends and loved ones. We are in touch with them, doing all we can to help during this difficult time.” Lamont said McClean was “a talented, energetic, and dedicated young journalist” who had “a great career ahead of him.”
