A fugitive trying to outrun an arrest in Florida killed an officer after he shot and ran him over with his car, authorities said. Marco Antonio Parilla Jr., 23, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder after he opened fire on Tarpon Springs officer Charles Kondek, hitting the 17-year veteran once above his bulletproof vest. Parilla then crashed his car into a pole and another car before police apprehended him. Kondek was responding to a noise call at about 2 a.m. at an apartment complex, where Parilla was disturbing neighbors, police said. Parilla was released from prison in March after serving more than two years for offenses including drug charges, but became a fugitive after violating probation. "I apologize to the family" of the officer, Parilla told media. “That was not my intention." The shooting happened less than 24 hours after two officers were shot in Brooklyn, but did not appear to have any connection.
