The British actor who played the beloved Maester Aemon in HBO series Game of Thrones has died at the age of 93. Peter Vaughan also starred in the British television shows Porridge, Citizen Smith, Chancer, and Our Friends in the North. Agent Sally Long-Innes confirmed Vaughan died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning and said he passed away “peacefully with his family around him.” Vaughan began acting in the 1950s, building himself a lengthy career that full of roles on the stage, as well as in radio, film, and television.
