The last remaining member of President Obama’s original economic team isn’t going anywhere, apparently: Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is expected to serve out the rest of President Obama’s term, according to The New York Times, after intense pressure from Obama himself and White House chief of staff Bill Daley. Geithner had said he’d decide whether or not to stay once a debt deal was made, and while he has not yet told the White House of his intentions, Obama is doing everything he can to make sure he stays—the Times says he values Geithner not simply because he wants to avoid a confirmation fight for his successor, but also because the two have developed a “close rapport.”
