Hollywood and the Beltway converge: George Clooney has joined the Council on Foreign Relations. Clooney was nominated for lifetime membership to the prestigious think tank by Charlie Rose and New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof for his Darfur activism. He’s not the first Hollywood type to grace the membership roll: Michael Douglas and Warren Beatty are life members, and Angelina Jolie got a team membership in 2007. Clooney said he was honored, “And I hear the initiation ritual is wild.”
