How much would you pay for enough sushi to feed you and your friends for life? A giant bluefin tuna weighing over 750 pounds brought in 32.5 million yen, or about $380,000, at an auction in Tokyo on Tuesday. The first fish auction of the year is important in the Japanese fish trade, and this year's prize beat a 2001 record of a 20 million yen, or about $150,000. The colossal fish was bought by a seafood wholesaler and will make its way to high-end restaurants in Japan and Hong Kong. Japan fishes about 45,000 tons of tuna annually, though the fish is considered endangered and conservationists have made efforts to restrict trade.
