Rick Santorum is striking gold in the Rust Belt this week, with polls, ad spending, and the Indiana ballot all turning his way. While pro-Santorum super PAC the Red, White and Blue Fund has sunk $257,000 into ad time in Ohio, a new poll shows Santorum leading Romney 36 percent to 29 percent in the state just a week and a half out from Super Tuesday. The super PAC is also doubling down on pro-Santorum ads in Michigan, where Republicans go to the polls Feb. 28. Santorum caught a break Thursday, when party officials in Indiana announced that the candidate would appear on the state’s May 8 primary ballot after some confusion regarding whether he had gathered the required number of campaign signatures in one of the state’s congressional districts.
