As the midterm elections approach, money is flowing to Republican challengers at an even faster rate. At least 40 House Democratic incumbents raised less cash than their Republican challengers during the third quarter. The underfunded Dems include long-established representatives, like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whose opponent, the Ron Paul-backed John Dennis, outraised her by more than 3-to-1. Democrats are being outspent, too. Pro-GOP groups like Karl Rove’s American Crossroads were already spending far more than Democratic organizations. Crossroads and other Republican-affiliated groups announced that they would spend $50 million on TV ads attacking House Democrats.
