The call runs counter to the White House's push for a more humane immigration policy. The workplace raids were a hallmark of the Bush era. A series of raids on meatpacking plants received national attention. Nonetheless, with Democrats holding a majority in the Senate and Obama secure in his veto power, Republicans cannot force a change in policy.
