Displaced fishermen, businesses, and residents in the Gulf are up in arms about delays, unnecessary paperwork, and too little compensation for their damage claims. Between the financial toll of the disaster and the ever-growing amount of oil washing ashore, Gulf Coast residents' ire is at a boiling point. "Every day we call the adjuster eight or 10 times. There's no answer, no answering machine," says one business owner who filed claims of $33,000 for lost business at her Alabama restaurant. "If BP doesn't pay us within two months, we'll be out of business. We've got two kids." While the company has denied that their responses are slow and said they are working as fast as they can, some residents said they are starting to see parallels to the lack of reimbursements after Hurricane Katrina.
