The adult film industry in Los Angeles has shut down in response to a performer testing positive for HIV. It is standard for a voluntary moratorium on production when a performer tests positive for HIV, and this marks the third such halt since 2013. “Confirmatory tests are not yet back, but we are taking every precaution to protect performers and to determine if there’s been any threat to the performer pool,” said Diana Duke of the Free Speech Coalition, a trade association for the adult film industry. The heterosexual adult film industry has vehemently opposed using condoms on set and stress regular STD testing instead but that position has a lot of critics. After a second moratorium following an HIV scare last year, the industry said all performers needed to be tested every 14 days, instead of 28 days previously.
