After weeks of back and forth, the House of Representatives approved President Obama's $787 billion stimulus package along party line this afternoon. On a vote of 246 for and 183 against, every Republican and eight Democrats voted against the measure. The Senate is expected to take up the vote on the eight-inch thick bill later today. Back the House, Republican legislators continue to grumble about what House Minority Leader John Boehner calls "spending, spending, spending." Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi gave an equally word-economical summary: "the legislation can be summed up in one word: jobs."
