The House Judiciary Committee voted Wednesday to request documents relating to former FBI Director James Comey’s conversations with Obama administration officials and reporters, bucking a Democratic amendment seeking documents about the circumstances surrounding Comey’s firing by President Trump. “In my district, my constituents say, ‘Hey, what’s going on with investigation of the crimes of the previous administration?’” said Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ). The debate inside the room got intense, The Washington Post reported, and some Republicans members even brought up Bill Clinton’s impeachment. Republicans contended that the Democratic amendment, proposed by Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), was unnecessary because special counsel Robert Mueller was already looking into the matter.
