Two high-ranking House Democrats are investigating whether former national security adviser Michael Flynn failed to disclose a 2015 visit to the Middle East. Rep. Elijah Cummings, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, and Rep. Eliot Engel, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued a letter Monday questioning whether Flynn traveled to the Middle East in 2015 without properly reporting the trip on a January 2016 application to renew his security clearance. Cummings and Engel cite a Newsweek article that described Flynn visiting the Middle East in the summer of 2015, as well as Flynn’s own testimony during a June 2015 congressional hearing during which Flynn described having just returned from “a fairly extensive trip to the Middle East.”
