After making threats for months, House Republicans finally filed a lawsuit on Friday against the Obama administration for unilateral actions on the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. In its suit against the secretaries of Health and Human Services and Treasury, the GOP claims the administration unlawfully postponed the employer mandate. The suit also claims that the administration’s $157 billion “giveaway” to insurance companies in the form of subsidies is illegal. “If this president can get away with making his own laws, future presidents will have the ability to as well. The House has an obligation to stand up for the Constitution, and that is exactly why we are pursuing this course of action,” Speaker John Boehner said in a statement.
