Residents and officials of Yemen’s port city of Aden say Houthi rebels have been pushed back by coalition airstrikes and local militias. The Shiite rebels have reportedly withdrawn from the city’s central district after overnight clashes, as fighters loyal to the country’s fleeing president make gains. Houthi militias had been advancing, particularly after deposing President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi in January. A coalition of Sunni Arab states has now begun military campaigns to control the insurgency.
