How did 25-year-old actress Rooney Mara land the role of Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo? According to Variety, Columbia Pictures wasn’t sure that Mara was right for the role, but director David Fincher went to the mat for her and prevailed. (She and Fincher worked together in the studio’s upcoming Facebook movie, The Social Network.) Mara will co-star with Daniel Craig in the film adaptations of the Larsson trilogy, the first of which will begin shooting next month.
