An “extremely dangerous and life-threatening” storm with near hurricane-force winds, more than a foot of snow and, severe coastal flooding is moving closer to Alaska, the National Weather Service said in a bulletin Monday. The National Weather Service predicted this storm will intensify into “one of the most severe Bering Sea storms on record.” The storm is expected to move over the Bering Sea toward Alaska’s west coast on Tuesday, as blizzard warnings were issued for the entire coastal region. Winds between 65 to 70 miles per hour are expected, which could generate sea swells as high as 20 feet and sea levels to rise eight to nine feet above normal Tuesday night into Wednesday. The storm is expected to last through Wednesday.
