Apple's first day of iPad tablet sales rivaled the 2007 event when iPhones hit the market. Storefronts were lined with hundreds of shoppers waiting for doors to open so they could get their hands on the latest tablet computer weighing in at $499. One analyst expects Apple to sell between 200,000 to 300,000 iPads in its first weekend and another analyst expects annual sales to hit 7.1 million items globally. Similar to the iPhone, the iPad will test Apple’s exploration into new markets. “You may call it a dumb computer or a smart telephone—it’s in between,” said one customer. “It’s a unique, sexier device.”
