For National Poetry Month, author Chip Kidd is paying homage to one poet: Dr. Seuss. “I would definitely consider Dr. Seuss one of my favorite poets, which is rather a slap in the face to my boyfriend, who is a very well-regarded poet, to the point where he’s not a big Dr. Seuss fan,” Kidd told The New York Times after he read the good doctor’s work at the Academy of American Poets benefit at Lincoln Center. And in homage to another poet, Kidd serenaded the camera with Emily Dickinson's “Because I could not step for Death,” set, strangely enough, to the tune of “The Yellow Rose of Texas.” Film at The Times’ Paper Cuts blog.
