Sabotage is suspected after a blast flung a passenger train into the path of a speeding cargo train in India, killing at least 73. The two trains were approaching from opposite directions in an area known for its Maoist rebels when the blast hit. According to The Wall Street Journal, authorities discovered an 18-inch section of track missing. There were conflicting reports of whether an IED had been used. The Maoist group suspected in the attack, known as Naxalites, began their insurgency in West Bengal in 1967 and are still considered by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to be the country's top security threat within its borders.
