Iranian border police captured a Western woman trying to enter the country from Armenia on Saturday, accusing her of being a spy. Early reports by Iranian media called her "American," but later questioned that claim, saying the women alternately claimed to be American and Swiss. A border police commander said the woman was "on a mission for the Americans to film the borders," and that she had been turned over to the intelligence ministry. Three Americans were arrested in July 2009 after straying across the border into Iran while hiking in Iraq. One was released on bond, and the other two are awaiting trial.
