At least 10 people have been killed in the U.S. since Hurricane Irma made landfall over the weekend, ABC News reports. Six died of storm-related injuries in Florida, with a sheriff’s deputy and a correctional officer among those killed in car crashes attributed to the dangerous weather conditions. Another victim was electrocuted by a downed power line Monday, authorities said, while carbon-monoxide poisoning from a backup generator was blamed for another fatality. After leaving millions without power in Florida, Irma battered parts of Georgia on Monday, leaving three people dead, at least two of them crushed by falling trees. South Carolina also reported one death due to a falling tree late Monday. Some 38 others have been confirmed dead in the Caribbean, which suffered the full wrath of Hurricane Irma when it battered the area as a Category 5 storm.
