An Israeli kibbutz has taken hold of a piece of Palestinian land in the West Bank. According to an activist opposing Jewish settlements in the disputed area, Kibbutz Meirav, an Israeli agricultural community, has seized 365 acres of land from a neighboring Palestinian village. Though such lands have historically been seized for settlers, this is the first time communities on the Israeli side of the ceasefire line have taken hold of West Bank property. The land has actually been under the care of the kibbutz for years, but Israel has only just recently acknowledged the community. This has caused concern among Palestinians who fear the start of a trend.
