He’ll have to miss spring break though, right? The mayor of Cancun, Mexico, Gregorio Sanchez, has vowed to continue his campaign for governor despite currently serving hard time on corruption and money-laundering charges. Sanchez maintains his innocence, claiming that the corruption charges are the result of "political lynching." Corruption, though, has become commonplace among Mexico's public officers during the country's bloodly war against drug cartels and organized mafia, with five of Sanchez's seven predecessors involved in scandals of their own. "The campaign will continue--it never stopped," the mayor's wife said, adding that she can explain a mysterious $2.5 million bank account in her husband's name. Heading into the July 4 election, Sanchez remains "well-positioned and still ahead in the polls" despite the scandal, a political opponent admits.
