Jersey Boys is heading to the big screen, Deadline exclusively reveals. After a heated auction for the Broadway musical about Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, GK Films has earned the film rights to the production. According to Deadline, it was a “groundbreaking” seven-figure deal and included pursuits from DreamWorks, Warner Bros, and Fox. Rumor has it, Deadline reports, GK Films had the edge over other studios because of its relationship with Martin Scorsese, Valli’s hero. The site, however, says that sources claim Scorsese is not involved. GK Films partners Graham King and Tim Headington will produce the film adaptation, while Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice will write the script based on the Tony Award-winning play, which chronicles the making of The Four Seasons. "We are extremely excited about the passion and commitment expressed by GK Films to take Jersey Boys to another level,” Valli and fellow band member Bob Gaudio said in a statement. “Graham King has been a believer from day one. We are in good hands.” Film versions of Green Day’s American Idiot, In the Heights, and Wicked are in the works.
