A Portuguese journalist and gay rights activist was murdered in a New York City hotel room Saturday morning—and the main suspect has been found after allegedly slitting his own wrists. Police found the body of Carlos Antonio DeCastro, 65, in a pool of blood after being beaten and castrated at the posh InterContinental Hotel in Times Square. A female friend of DeCastro’s discovered his mutilated body after reportedly stopping by the hotel to visit DeCastro and his boyfriend, male model Renato Seabra. Sources said she encountered Seabra in the hallway, and reportedly he told her DeCastro was “not coming out” before leaving the hotel. A few hours later, Seabra, checked into Roosevelt Hospital after allegedly slitting his wrists, sources said. Police have transferred Seabra to Bellevue Hospital, and said he is a person of interest in the case, but it will be days before they can question him.
