Joyce Mitchell, the prison seamstress accused of helping two inmates escape a New York state prison, pleaded guilty Tuesday as part of a plea deal for a sentence of as much as seven years. Mitchell will not face additional charges for a plot to kill her husband or for any sexual contact with the prisoners. Mitchell was accused of providing chisels, hacksaw blades, a punch, and screwdriver bits to convicts Richard Matt and David Sweat. Matt was shot and killed by police in June and Sweat was captured.
