The R&B singer best known for his 1988 hit “Just Got Paid,” Johnny Kemp, has died in Jamaica. He was 55. Police say Kemp’s body was found floating at a Montego Bay beach on Thursday morning. Kemp had been singing since he was 13 years old, when he began performing in nightclubs. He moved to New York with his band, Kinky Fox, in 1979 and hit the top of the U.S. Billboard R&B chart with “Just Got Paid,” which also earned him a Grammy nomination in 1989.
