Polls in Israel have closed and, according to exit polls by Israel’s three main television stations, the moderate Kadima party is the number one vote-getter, narrowly beating out Likud. The polls all show Kadima winning 27-30 seats, Likud winning 27 or 28 seats, Labor winning 13 seats, and Yisrael Beiteinu winning 15 seats in the Knesset. The results don’t necessarily mean however that Kadima head Tzipi Livni will be the next prime minister. According to The Jerusalem Post, “due to the dramatic rise in support of the Likud and Israel Beiteinu, it seemed that Likud chairman Binyamin Netanyahu would have a better chance than Kadima head Tzipi Livni of forming the next coalition.”
