Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, a reported short-lister to be Hillary Clinton’s vice-presidential pick, allegedly accepted gifts in the form of a vaction, clothes, and a trip to the NCAA Final Four. According to Politico, the revelations—unearthed from financial disclosures—could give Republicans an opportunity to portray Kaine in a negative light if he is chosen as Clinton’s running mate. A Kaine spokesperson said the senator “went beyond the requirements of Virginia law, even publicly disclosing gifts of value beneath the reporting threshold,” adding that “he met both the letter and the spirit of Virginia’s ethical standards.”
