In a harsh diatribe against the U.S. on Monday, Afghan President Hamid Karzai accused the U.S. of bringing "killing" into his country through the use of private security firms. He also confirmed that his office receives cash from Iran, in return for loyalty. “They have asked for good relations in return,” he said, “and for lots of other things in return.” Umar Daudzai, the president’s chief of staff, receives the money, which amounts to no more than a million dollars twice annually, Karzai said. Karzai noted that the United States, too, gives him cash. “They do give us bags of money, Yes, yes they do. It’s all the same. So let’s not make this an issue.”
