Thirteen years after he shot some of the most memorable portraits of Princess Diana—published just one month before her death—fashion photographer Mario Testino was put in charge of Kate Middleton’s engagement photos. He met with the future queen and Prince William for a shoot last month and his work is due to be released this month. Middleton appears relaxed and sporting a new hairstyle. "With Princess Diana, Mario took her out of the Sloane Ranger mode and transformed her into a glamorous, international style icon, and one would hope he will do the same with Kate and encourage her to be a little more experimental with her clothes and hairstyle,” said one fashion editor. Testino’s photos of Diana are said to be among Prince William’s favorites, because he believed they showed his mother at her most natural. Ever since, William and his brother, Harry, have turned to Testino for their important milestones.
