Kate Middleton's reign as a good-luck charm to Team GB came to an abrupt end last night, when the British women's hockey team lost 2-1 to Argentina.
The defeat was all the more galling to Kate as, before the Olympics, the Duchess made a private visit to the Olympic Park in Stratford to meet the team and knocked a few balls around the pitch.
Kate played hockey since junior school and was captain of the first XI at Marlborough College.
Kate, wearing a white Team GB polo shirt and navy blazer, watched the British team lost 2-1 to Argentina. Team GB can still win bronze.
