Five former New Orleans police officers who were convicted last summer in post-Katrina shootings have been jailed for the shooting of six unarmed civilians, two of whom died. Robert Falcon Jr., 48, received the longest prison sentence, 65 years, for fatally shooting two men, one of whom was mentally disabled, on the Danziger Bridge. Former Sgt. Kenneth Bowen, who reportedly stomped on the disabled man as he lay dying, and former Sgt. Robert Gisevius, were each sentenced to 40 years for shooting civilians. Lead investigator Arthur “Archie” Kaufman was sentenced to six years in prison for orchestrating an elaborate cover-up of the incident.
