The female anthem of the summer—Katy Perry’s “California Gurls,” featuring Snoop Dogg—has already risen to the top. The pop star’s first single from her upcoming album Teenage Dream is the No. 1 record on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart as of Thursday. It had been sitting in the runner’s up seat, but just knocked Usher’s “OMG” with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am. out of the top spot. This is Perry’s second chart-topping hit—her first, “I Kissed a Girl,” held the No. 1 position for seven weeks. “California Gurls’” four-week rise to the summit marks the quickest from Perry’s label, Capitol Records, in nearly 43 years.
