An Australian aid worker who was captured in Afghanistan four months ago has been freed, and she is now safe, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said. Kerry Jane Wilson was kidnapped from her home by armed gunmen in Jalalabad in April. “She is now safe and well,” Bishop said. “I am relieved for Kerry Jane, and her family, with whom I have remained in close contact.” Few details surrounding Wilson’s release are available, but Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security secured the release through a special operation and is reported to have made arrests related to the event.
