American skeet shooter Kim Rhode made Olympic history Sunday, becoming the first athlete from her country to make gold in an individual event in five consecutive Olympics. The 33-year-old also tied the world record by hitting 99 of 100 clay targets at the Royal Artillery Barracks. “I think it’s going to be incredible,” Rhode said shortly before gunning her way into history. “Whatever the outcome may be, it’s about the journey.” The Olympian began shooting at age 10 and won her first medal at the 1996 Games in double trap. Asked if she’ll continue in her sport after London, Rhodes responded, “Why not?”
