A Los Angeles health clinic that had treated porn stars was shut down Thursday by health officials. Adult Industry Medical, located in Sherman Oaks, California, was found to be operating with the wrong license in May, and although the clinic applied for a new one in June, health officials said the application was incomplete and denied the license. The county’s public-health director, Dr. Jonathan Fielding, said there are listings on their website of other clinics AIM’s clients visit for treatment. The clinic had provided porn producers with a database of performers’ test results that the producers could check before filming—and Fielding said he did not know what would happen to that system. “Our feeling has been that it is not sufficient to fully protect the performers,” he said. The closure comes only one day after porn star Derrick Burts slammed the clinic for inadequate care for sexually transmitted diseases, especially HIV.
