A bevy of celebrities dropped by Larry King's final show on CNN to congratulate the 77-year-old interviewer on his 25 years doing the show. But King just "sat there like a lump" when he was being commended, writes Washington Post TV critic Tom Shales, leaving his guests languishing in mild embarrassment. The episode featured a taped message from President Obama; satellite hookups with Regis Philbin, Bill Clinton, Donald Trump; and studio appearances from Bill Maher and Ryan Seacrest. "This was certainly no grandly emotional moment to rank with Johnny Carson's famous farewell in the early '90s," Shales writes, "but King's unhurried style and in-depth approach were definitely assets and rarities."
