As the attempted assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords revives the gun-control debate, two members of the House of Representatives tell Politico that they’ll be beefing up their security back in their home districts. Republican Jason Chaffetz of Utah and Democrat Heath Shuler of North Carolina—who challenged Nancy Pelosi for the post of minority leader—each say they’ll be packing firearms back home, but not in D.C. “After the elections, I let my guard down,” said Shuler. “Now I know I need to have [my gun] on me." Officials have confirmed that the gun used in Saturday’s Tucson shooting was purchased legally.
