Hundreds of travelers evacuated Los Angeles International Airport late Sunday after reports of an active shooter prompted mass panic in what appears to have been a false alarm. Reports of an active shooter first came in from Terminals 1, 5, and 7, and social media was soon flooded with warnings of a shooter as people inside the airport fled or barricaded themselves in safe spaces. Police swarmed the area and all incoming traffic was redirected, with the building on lockdown. The Los Angeles Police Department said shortly after midnight that no victims had been found, and there was no sign of a shooter. An investigation into the source of the initial reports is underway.
