Lena Dunham Dolls Up: Girls creator Lena Dunham looks pretty fantastic in a fashion spread for online retailer ASOS’s latest magazine. The photos, taken before the Dunham cut her hair into a pixie cut, play up the young writer’s quirky taste with nostalgic, vintage throwback pieces. Inside the story Dunham chats about her childhood, saying, “I felt highly anxious in a way that I didn’t think other children were. I just wanted to be at home watching old Saturday Night Live reruns with my parents and trying to find the dirty parts of books.” Speaking of books, Dunham’s lit agents are reportedly shopping her first book for over $1 million. The Franco Empire Expands: James Franco has directed Stuart Weitzman’s new sexy video campaign that follows model (and Thailand tsunami disaster survivor) Petra Nemcova around to some of New York City’s coolest posts like Le Baron and The Hole gallery. [The Cut]
Lagerfeld Pokes Fun: Karl Lagerfeld pulled a joke on fashion editors at yesterday’s Chanel preview by poking fun at all of the buzz surrounding last night’s Saint Laurent show in Paris. He distributed flyers that read, “No Smoking Here,” in reference to YSL’s signature ‘Le Smoking’ tuxedos that were referenced in the house’s new creative director, Hedi Slimane’s debut collection. As Lagerfeld told WWD, “We [Chanel] don’t have to do smoking. Hedi Slimane really does it well.” [WWD]
