Seventeen people were injured on Sunday when lightning struck a tent at the Ontario food festival. Officials said those injured did not have life-threatening injuries, and they were sent to two local hospitals. Colin O’Reagan, the chair of the event, said the storm approached the Whitby Ribfest quickly around 2 p.m. and the patrons were sitting in a large dining tent when lightning struck it. Sunday was the last day of the festival, but it was canceled after the lightning struck.
